Heeraben has five sons and a daughter. In the recent time, she was living with her youngest son Pankaj Modi at Raysan in the Gandhinagar district of Gujarat. Pankaj Modi is a retired Gujarat Government official. Heeraben’s age at the time of her death was 99 years. Heeraben believed in living simply, being the mother of the Prime Minister, she was never seen availing any special treatment. After Demonetisation, she was once seen standing in the queue outside a bank to replace her old currency.
