Athar Aamir Khan is an IAS Officer who is currently posted in Srinagar (J&K) as Municipal Commissioner. Athar Aamir was born on September 5, 1992. He became an IAS officer at the age of 23. He was ranked 2nd in the UPSC 2015 Topper list. Athar Aamir hails from Devipora, Mattan, Distt- Anantnag, Jammu, and Kashmir. IAS Athar Aamir Khan did his primary schooling at Evergreen Public School Devipora, later he went to Anantnag Iqbal Memorial School and Anantnag Biscoe School. He did his 11th and 12th from Tyndale Biscoe School in Srinagar.

He appeared in many entrance examinations and almost cleared all of them, but he had an interest in Engineering so he went to IIT Mandi (Himachal Pradesh). He was a very bright student since his childhood, after being from a militancy-prone area, he never distracted from his goals and kept doing good in his studies and as a result of his sheer dedication and determination, he is currently enjoying his powers in Indian bureaucracy. He graduated from IIT – Mandi with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

During his Engineering, he was inspired by IAS Shah Faesal and from there on he decided to go to UPSC and made up his mind to become an IAS officer. He made his first attempt in 2014 and was selected for Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), he joined the training at the Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management, Lucknow. He always wanted to be an IAS officer so along with his IRTS training he started preparing for IAS and in the year 2015, Athar Aamir gave his 2nd attempt and secured 2nd rank in UPSC.

He wanted to join Jammu and Kashmir Cadre but due to the limited positions, he got Rajasthan Cadre which was his 2nd preference. As of now, he is posted in his native State J&K as a Municipal Commissioner of Srinagar. After clearing UPSC in 2015, he met Tina Dabi- the topper of the 2015 UPSC at the IAS felicitation ceremony at the DoPT office in Delhi. Later during their IAS training at Lal Bahadur National Academy for Administration in Mussoorie, Athar Aamir and Tina Dabi fell in love, and during their training time, the couple went on a trip to Netherlands, Paris, and Rome.

In 2018, IAS Athar Aamir and Tina Dabi got married in a court in Jaipur, but in 2021 the couple parted ways with mutual consent.
